Konteksts: [..] Major conversion: 1) means a conversion of a ship: 1) which substantially alters the dimensions or carrying capacity of the ship; or 2) which changes the type of the ship; or 3) the intent of which in the opinion of the Administration is substantially to prolong its life; or 4) which otherwise so alters the ship that, if it were a new ship, it would become subject to relevant provisions of the present Convention not applicable to it as an existing ship. Definīcija:

Ship conversion- the conversion in the Community of metal-hulled sea-going vessels, as defined in (a), of not less than 1 000 GRT, on condition that conversion operations entail radical alterations to the cargo plan, the hull or the propulsion system or the passenger accommodation.
